Product Description

Ficus need vary among the types of ficus, but generally, they prefer well-drained, fertile soil kept consistently moist. Although ficus can tolerate an occasional missed watering, allowing them to dry out regularly stresses the plant. When it comes to lighting, ficus plants can be somewhat finicky. Ficus requires high light levels, especially for the best coloring of its leaves. But there are types of ficus that tolerate medium to low-light conditions. In low-light conditions, ficus tends to be sparser and can have poorer branching habits. They also tend to be much slower growing in less light. If abruptly moved to a new spot with different light levels than it's used to, ficus can drop many leaves. Though alarming, the plant recovers once it adapts to new conditions.

In the right conditions, ficus grows relatively fast. This can become troublesome if you've got a large kind because it can quickly outgrow its space. Regular pruning prevents this and promotes good branching. However, there is a limit to the amount of pruning larger species of ficus tolerate. Starting a new plant by air layering is the best option for woody types.

FAQ

How to defoliate ficus

Cut the leaves using a twig shears, leaving the leaf-stalk intact. Using the right bonsai tools, like a leaf cutter, will help significantly. Check the step by step guide below for detailed information.

A defoliated tree does not need specific aftercare. When only partially defoliating a tree (for example, only pruning the top part of the tree) you better place the tree in the shadow for about a month to protect the exposed interior leaves. Also, in areas with very strong sun you can shade your defoliated trees to protect the bark from getting sunburned.

The leaves of plants fell off after long time transportation in reefer container.

Prochloraz can be used to prevent bacterial infection, you can use Naphthalene acetic acid(NAA) to let the root grow first and then after a period, use nitrogenous fertilizer let the leaves grow quickly.

Rooting powder can be also used, will help the root grow faster. Rooting powder should be watered in the root,if the root grow well and then leave will grow well.

If the weather in your local place is hot, you should provide enough water to the plants.

You need to watering the roots and whole ficus in the morning;

And then in the afternoon, you should watering ficus branches again to let them gain more water and keep moisture and the buds will grown again, you need to keep doing like this at least 10 days. If your place is raining recently, and then it will make the ficus recover more fast.
